M.A. in Islamic Studies and Jurisprudence
(with a minor in Philosophy)
Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies and Jurisprudence with a minor in Philosophy is a program in which students study advanced level principles of jurisprudence (uṣūl -e-fiqh) and jurisprudence(fiqh); in addition to it, intermediate level courses in Philosophy.

Duration: 4 years/ 8 semesters
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Successful completion of bachelor’s program in Islamic Studies and Jurisprudence from al-Mustafa International University.
- Completion of a practicum of Arabic language (one full semester, 320 hours).
OBJECTIVE
- Identifying talented students and guiding them to pursue higher academic studies.
- Training of academics, researchers and teachers in Islamic studies and jurisprudence.
- Training of Islamic scholars who are qualified to be ambassadors of Islamic culture and the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt in their respective communities.
Program Outline
- Duration:
- Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies and Jurisprudence with a minor in Philosophy is a 4year program. Program is structured on a credit-based system over the course of 8 academic semesters requiring 70 credits.
- Each theoretical credit in an academic semester is of 16 hours (1 hours every week for 16 weeks) and each practical credit is of 32 hours (2 hours every week for 16 weeks).
- Minimum number of credits required per semester is 12 and the maximum is 16.
- During the duration of the program students may take up to one semester off.
