Amir al-Muminin seminary

Amir al-Muminin (a.s) Islamic Seminary is under the umbrella of Al-Mustafa International University, located in the holy city of Qom. It was inaugurated in 2007 under the auspicious guidance of Ayatollah Araki as a source of disseminating knowledge and training western students from North America and Europe. The school focuses on the classical texts of the seminaries and follows a traditional seminary system. There is a close teacher-student relationship, mubaithah (i.e interactive discussions among students on each lesson covered in class, in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the topic at hand) and weekly lectures on ethics. At this school a comprehensive and extensive education and training is provided to western intellectuals who are interested in Islamic sciences.

Purpose of Establishing the Seminary

The purpose of establishing the seminary is to nurture righteous scholars vis a vis educating and cultural-training programs; such that they become true ambassadors and representatives of the pure Muhammadan Islam in the west. These students then are able to respond to intellectual challenges of the west and cater to the spiritual needs of the youth in the current times. The Hawza has three levels of education: Bachelor’s program (in Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic sciences), Master’s and Doctorate programs (in Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic sciences with a focus in Islamic Philosophy).

Scholarship

Amir al-Muminin Seminary School offers a wide range of scholarships for international students to help cover tuition and housing costs in Qom. To qualify for a scholarship, the student must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program offered by Amir al-Muminin.

Education
All programs offered by Amir al-Muminin are free.

Health Insurance
Upon admission, students and their families can benefit from the free health insurance. The plan covers a majority of health care expenses.

Housing
Amir al-Muminin Seminary School provides housing options ranging from dormitory rooms to apartments. Residence assignment is assessed and prioritized on an individual basis.

Visa
Visa costs for students and their respective families is covered by Amir al-Muminin. The visa allows a one year duration of stay which be extended at the end of each year.

Childcare
Amir al-Muminin provides childcare facilities to help students with children.

Amir al-Muminin (a.s) Institution

After a 10-year establishment of the Amir al-Muminin (a.s) seminary; to cover the vacuum in knowledge amongst sisters, the school for sisters Siddiqah al-Zahra (s.a) seminary was established in 2016, catering to western intellectual sisters. A year later, in 2017 Al-Rassoul al-Azam (s) seminary was established targeting Arabic speaking students from North Africa. These three seminaries have an integrated management under Amir al-Muminin (a.s) institution, where Islamic knowledge is pursued in order to promote the religion of Islam.

Mission Statement

Amir al-Momenin seminary is a school of higher education in Islamic studies which provides a comprehensive curriculum for talented students to qualify them as Muslim scholars and researchers who are empowered to serve as spiritual and religious leaders in their respective communities back home.

Vision Statement

It is the vision of Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s) seminary to be a leading school for western students; training and educating Muslim thinkers worldwide based on Islamic classical texts.
